Project Description/Scope: Develop a corridor plan for Market Street from Colonial Drive to the Pender County line. This project will integrate transportation and land use planning in an effort to improve safety and mobility along the entire corridor. The plan will provide recommendations for access management, inter-connectivity, improved development standards, future collector streets and conceptual designs.
Current Status: On March 6, 2008, NCDOT approved funding in the amount of $275,000 for the WMPO, City of Wilmington, and New Hanover County to develop the Market Street Corridor Plan. Kimley-Horn & Associates, Inc. has been hired by the WMPO to complete the plan.
Next Step: The WMPO and Kimley Horn & Associates, Inc. conducted stakeholder interviews the week of September 15, 2008. The WMPO hosted two series of public meetings at the New Hanover County Offices and Ogden Elementary School. The first round of public meetings were held on October 7 and 9. The second round of meetings were held on October 28 and 30. Documents from the meetings can be accessed via the links below. The plan is anticipated to be completed in February 2009.
