WMPO Traffic Counts

The WMPO has collected traffic count data in the Wilmington urbanized area since 1985. With more than 650 count locations, not all of the data can be gathered at one time. WMPO staff uses a defined schedule and systematically collects data at all of the count locations throughout the calendar year. The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) also gathers traffic count data on state-maintained roadways biennially to complement the data collected locally by WMPO staff.
